Planting the first vines in 2001, our founders started molding reality from their dream of opening a winery in New Kent County,Virginia. From that beginning, we are now producing Chardonnay, Reserve Chardonnay, Merlot, White Merlot, Meritage, Vidal Blanc, and Norton - a grape native to Virginia.

Historic, Reclaimed, Old World Materials
Our 17,000-square-foot winery is equipped with state-of-the-art wine-making equipment from around the world. The winery itself, designed by Williamsburg architect John Hopke, has been modeled to reflect an earlier time when wine-making was common in the New Kent, Virginia region.
New Kent Winery was built by craftsmen with historic materials reclaimed from buildings and structures well over a century old. Beautiful heart-pine trusses were reclaimed from a 1901 Southern Railroad Depot located in the Shockoe Bottom area of Richmond,Virginia. Heart pine structural timbers and floor timbers were recovered from a Connecticut warehouse circa 1852.
The stunning exterior facade of the winery was achieved using handmade, pre-Civil War bricks. Siding and roof shingles were milled from cypress logs that had been submerged in north Florida rivers for more than 150 years. Reprocessed copper bedecks the porch roofs. The result is an inviting and warm structure that reflects the quality wines produced within. Come see New Kent Winery for yourself today.
New Kent Winery was awarded the 2011 Virginia Governor’s Cup for white wines. This award signifies that our 2009 Reserve Chardonnay was rated the top wine award in Virginia.Click here to read the announcement.
